Meet Julie Anderson
Qualified Counsellor | Founder of Big Bear’s Treehouse
GET TO KNOW JULIE
I’m Julie Anderson. I am a child and family counsellor.
I work with children, adults, and families using play-based and relational approaches.
I use child-centred play therapy, trauma-informed and attachment-focused approaches to support emotional growth. I work with a wide range of challenges, including sexual abuse and complex trauma, always at the child’s pace.
My approach is thoughtful and paced, with attention to safety, nervous system regulation, and relationship.

OVER 8 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
My Experience & Areas of Practice
I have extensive experience working with children and young people in out-of-home care, including those supported by foster and kinship carers.
This work often involves collaboration with carers, families, and broader support systems to create consistency, safety, and understanding around a child’s needs.
This experience informs how I approach all therapeutic work – with care, patience, and an awareness of how early experiences, relationships, and environments shape behaviour and emotional expression.
