Welcome to the Treehouse Library
Sometimes the right story can help children find words for feelings, experiences and questions that are difficult to express. Whether a child is navigating grief, anxiety, family change, foster care, friendship challenges, neurodiversity, or simply learning more about themselves, books can provide comfort, understanding and connection.
The Treehouse Library is a growing collection of books and resources regularly recommended, used and loved within Big Bear's Treehouse. Organised by theme, these books have been carefully selected to support children, families, carers and professionals through a wide range of experiences and life challenges.
Within each category you will find information about the book, its focus, suggested age range, and a Treehouse Note explaining why it has earned a place on our shelves. Many titles are also available to borrow from the Big Bear's Treehouse lending library.
We have also included links to read-aloud versions where available. These videos are hosted by third parties and can be a wonderful way for families to access stories together from home. Please note that availability may change over time and Big Bear's Treehouse is not responsible for the content of external websites.
Like the children and families we work with, the Treehouse Library is continually growing. New books and resources will be added regularly as we discover stories that help children feel seen, understood, valued and connected.
If you know of a book that you believe belongs in the Treehouse Library, we would love to hear from you. Recommendations from children, parents, carers, teachers and fellow professionals are always welcome.
So, find a branch that feels right for you and explore. We hope these stories help spark conversations, build connection, and remind children that they do not have to navigate life's challenges alone.
